Softr opens its no-code platform to Claude and ChatGPT with an MCP server

Softr, the no-code platform for client portals and internal tools, spent its MCP Launch Week opening the platform to AI assistants. Between September 6 and 8, 2026, it shipped a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. With it, Claude, ChatGPT and other AI tools can build and run Softr apps through plain-language requests.

What the MCP server can do

According to Softr's documentation, an AI assistant connected over MCP can work across your whole workspace:

• Databases: query, filter and aggregate data, create records, and change tables and fields.
• Apps: create apps, manage pages and blocks, set up user access, configure custom domains and publish.
• Vibe Coding blocks: create and edit custom code blocks, with version history.
• Integrations: browse the external data sources you've connected.
• Workflows: build, test and publish multi-step workflows.

Softr lists Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Claude Code as supported clients and says most other MCP clients work too. You connect with OAuth or a personal access token. The server address is https://mcp.softr.io/mcp.

Permissions stay in your hands

Access is split into three areas: Applications & forms, Databases and Workflows. Each area gets its own level:

• Applications & forms: none, read-only or full access
• Databases: none, view-only, edit data or full access
• Workflows: none, read-only or full access

Softr's docs describe the levels as bundles: picking a level also grants everything below it. The safe way to start is read-only until you trust what the assistant does.

No extra AI credits

In its launch posts, Softr said vibe coding through Claude or ChatGPT doesn't use Softr AI credits, because the AI work runs in the assistant you already pay for.

Part of a busy summer

The MCP launch follows a run of Softr releases:

• August 11: item-level sharing and a native Zoho CRM integration.
• August 26: Softr Agents (in-app assistants and scheduled background automations), Workspace Teams (Business and Enterprise plans) and authenticator-app 2FA for app users.

Why it matters
